Deacon Judith Laycock

"I have lived most of my life in the North West, mainly in Lancashire.

Prior to training for ministry, I worked firstly as a nurse, and then as a midwife, with my last role being as a community midwife in Lancaster and Morecambe. I have two daughters, one at university studying maths, and one at school studying for her GCSE's. I enjoy singing in choirs, and I am the administrator of the British Methodist Choral Society (formerly the British Methodist Youth Choir).

I felt a calling to ministry following a mission trip to Sierra Leone, and my calling has since taken me all over the world, seeing the different ways that God is at work. This, combined with my midwifery background has given me a strong interest in social justice and world mission, and I am passionate about being alongside people in their various life experiences, joyful or challenging, which first formed the basis of my call to the Methodist Diaconal Order. I have a strong passion for bringing the church and community together, to walk alongside each other."
