Woodley Methodist Church – Chapel Street Woodley SK6 1NF

Our Church has been a part of the community in Woodley since 1868 and then in 1998 we rebuilt the Church and was officially re opened on the 6th September 1998 by Rev Ron Hoar B.D. President of the Methodist Conference.

We are a welcoming Church with easy access to the building and appropriate facilities for those with mobility difficulties and for those with visual or hearing impairments. We have a Car Park to the rear of the Church Hall and spaces for anyone with a disability. There is also a Public Car park as you enter Chapel Street.

Our Church Services are normally at 10.15am each Sunday and on the 1st Sunday of the month we have an evening Communion service at 6.00pm.
We try to vary Worship where possible as we have a Junior Church and therefore have 'Special Services', & "All-Age" Services and the music is thanks to the Organist or our Small band.

During the week we have a number of Groups from outside Users, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) groups: Thursday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Stockport Accordion Club: Wednesdays 6:30 – 10:30 pm. Martin Goddard School of Art: Thursdays 9:30 am – 12:00 noon. Mission Café: The café which normally operates on Wednesday and Saturday mornings (same time as the Thrift Shop) Snooker group: Mondays, 8:00 – 10:30 pm. Starlets Dance Academy: for pre-school children. Mondays 9:30 am – 12:00 noon. Thrift Shop: 9:30 am – 12:00 noon each Wednesday and Saturday. Lots of 'new' stock at great prices! Toddler Group: 1:15 – 2:45 pm each Wednesday in term time. 1st Woodley Brownies, We also hold Fund Concerts for Church and Charity and are well supported.

We have on-going Charitible giving through the Mission Cafe. We also support The Wellspring, which is a charity in Stockport that helps people who are or who might become homeless. It is open every day of the year and offers its clients a wide range of services, advice, and practical assistance.

The Lesotho Project, We provide ongoing support for the Pulane Children's Centre in Lesotho, Southern Africa. The centre cares for about 70 orphaned or vulnerable children from the local area. It was started 12 years ago by a Methodist missionary, Jill Kinsey, who is still involved, and is now overseen by Grant and Emily Strugnell.

The centre also operates a Shepherd school. Many people in Lesotho are poor and a high proportion of children in rural areas work as shepherds. The school provides them with a hot meal four evenings a week, and lessons in basic reading and writing.
